Had Fab, a leader in steel and aluminium structure design, fabrication, and installation, has invested in two new advanced Ficep UK angle processing systems to boost productivity and support future growth.

Celebrating over 30 years in business, Had Fab is a trusted partner in power transmission and distribution, rail, civils and infrastructure, and renewables and energy industries. Its two new high-speed Ficep machines - the XP angle processing line and the RAPID 20 drilling and cutting system - will further enhance Had Fab's capabilities.

Installed side-by-side, the Ficep XP and RAPID 20 will integrate with Had Fab’s existing Ficep angle lines, optimising workflow and significantly increasing processing productivity. The new systems were selected due to their speed, ease of programming through CNC, automatic loading and unloading capabilities and advanced safety features.

The Ficep XP series is the world’s fastest and most productive angle line, featuring a material positioning speed of 100 metres per minute. Its higher hydraulic pressure system with programmable pump volume achieves optimal press cycles while the clamp system ensures continuous material contact even during positioning.

Working alongside is the Ficep RAPID 20 CNC line with its high-speed carbide drilling and carbide sawing functionality. Its drill spindles feature independent sub axis positioning which allows holes to be drilled simultaneously even when different length dimensions are required.

Greg Scott, managing director at Had Fab, says: “We have a history of using Ficep machines, including angle lines, drill saws, and plate processing machines. The speed at which these new machines can process material was a major selling point. Ficep’s demonstrations showcased cutting times up to three times faster than some of our existing machines.

“Current work demand and projected growth have made it essential to invest in the XP and RAPID angle lines. Our new machines, along with the Ficep Tipo G plate processing machine we installed last year, represent the next logical step in our growth plan. We are optimistic that implementing the new lines will substantially increase our productivity of tower parts.

“We also see that this will create significant opportunities for our current employees to upskill and will allow us to recruit new team members. We have great confidence in our people and are excited about the prospect of welcoming new members who will learn to operate these advanced machines.”

Chris Berriman, sales director at Ficep UK, says: “We’re delighted to continue our long-standing relationship with Had Fab and to support them with their growth objectives. The Ficep XP system and the RAPID 20 will help Had Fab to alleviate bottlenecks and operate even faster. They will also enhance the business’ overall production capacity with their cutting-edge loading and unloading technology.

“We’ve worked closely with the Had Fab production team to ensure that integration of the new systems into the company’s workflow has been meticulously planned and delivered. Our team of skilled engineers oversee the installation and provide comprehensive training for selected operators, with ongoing support available in person and remotely.”
